Revealed: New look of Amitabh Bachchan in The Great Gatsby

The trailer for Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby will be released online later today. 


The film has generated much buzz in India as it features Amitabh Bachchan in a 'friendly appearance' alongside stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire. TOI brings you an exclusive first look at Big B's character, Meyer Wolfsheim ahead of the release of the first trailer, which lasts 2 minutes 22 seconds.

Ram Gopal Verma’s Department has started churning out bigger ripples and headlines even prior to the release. It is being expected that the film will hit the hearts of the audiences and people will love it watching on screen. The movie also got limelight due to the entry of the super sex doll Nathalia Kaur who does a brilliant item number in the film. Verma is much impressed by this item number and it is being said that this number would beat Verma’s ‘Khalaas’. Khalaas had made Isha Koppikkar a big name in Bollywood and Ramu’s this invention ‘Nathalia Kaur’ too will soon turn a household name as she has oomph factor, sex appeal and beauty in addition to the dancing skills.

Well, in Department, Ram Gopal Verma has roped in the bigger names of the Hindi cinema industry and they are none other than Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt. For the fans of these two super stars, the film will be a treat to watch both of them sharing the screen space together. A special song has been picturised on both of these veterans of the industry for this action packed drama.

One of the most keenly awaited celeb babies will be born in the city's only seven-star hospital. 

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, scheduled to deliver in this fortnight (her due date is November 14) has, confounding all expectations, chosen to deliver at Seven Hills Hospital at Marol in Andheri (east). 

The hospital which made headlines after running into several controversies over its quota of beds for the poor, was selected by the Bachchans after Aishwarya's sister-in-law Shrima gave birth to a baby boy here last year.

Amitabh Bachchan felicitated Lata Mangeshkarby honouring her with the very first 'Hridayanth' award on the occasion of her 82nd birthday last night in Mumbai. 

Also present at the occasion were the Mangeshkars lead by Pandit Hridayanath Mangeshkar, renowned filmmaker Yash Chopra, ace Tennis player Leander Paes, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and renowned singers like Sonu Nigam, Sadhana Sargam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Suresh Wadkar,Kavita Krishnamurthy & Bela Shende.

Inspite of being a legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan chose not be fashionably late. He was right on time to honour the nightingale of India.

After presenting Lata didi the trophy, Lata Mangeshkar thanked the superstar.

"Yash Chopra considers me her sister and I consider Amitabh Bachchan as my brother. So I have my three brothers here tonight. As Hridaynath said earlier, I want to present this very 'Hridaynath' award to Amitabh next year on his birthday or mine. By then I am sure he will be given the Bharat Ratna. It will then become special as one Bharat Ratna will give away the award to other Bharat Ratna'. " 

AB Gets Hit Accidentally

We all believe that actors and stars lead a wonderful life because they get tons of money and they are always in the limelight. Hence, they always get the kind of life they want to live but the fact is that injuries and accidents also come as part and parcel of this business and many actors have suffered this for many times. Recently, many actors are being getting injured. Initially, it was Abhishek Bachchan who got injured on the sets of Bol Bachchan and soon after that it was Vivek Oberoi who fell down while trying to do his own stunts on the sets of Zilla Ghaziabad. 

Now, it’s the senior Bachchan that has suffered from hairline rib fracture on the sets of Department. The movie is being directed by Ram Gopal Verma and Amitabh Bachchan was supposed to do a cameo role in the movie. However, during one of the action scenes where AB and security guard are in the action the butt of the carbine or the elbow of the security hit the rib area of Mr. Bachchan and had internal rupture right below the ribs. AB was feeling a bit uneasy and had problems breathing but doctors have taken the X ray. However, AB continues to work and he has already shot for a song and dance sequence as well.
As per the reports, the doctors claim that there is no treatment for such hairline rib fractures because it heals automatically in few weeks time. Hence, the only thing that AB can do now is take some rest to recover quickly. Big B posted on his blog site that since there are no treatments available for such fractures he will have to bear the pain his best companion now is the hot water bottle which provides better relief from the pain and discomfort.

Big B Gets Another Special Appearance

we all know that Amitabh Bachchan can really steal the show even if he gets a minor role or any other character role. However, in the last few weeks, Amitabh Bachchan has received various offers and he has settled for going for a special appearance role in one of the Hollywood movie called The Great Gatsby which is being directed by Buz Luhurrman. This movie is going to be a big surprise for the movie fans because it will also star some big Hollywood names like Leonardo DiCaprio. However, Amitabh Bachchan recently said that he is not among the central characters in the movie but just doing one special appearance where he plays the character of Wolfsheim. 

Now, Big B has gone for another special appearance and he will be seen for few minutes in the movie Department which is being directed by Ram Gopal Verma. RGV is already happy with the success of Not A Love Story and he is finally thinking to direct Department which is on hold for more than a year. This cop drama movie should have been directed and released by now but RGV did not have the right resources to make this film into reality. Hence, he decided to keep this script aside and instead work on other projects like Not A Love Story which did not required too much of resources.

Although, there was a rumor that RGV has shelved Department but from time to time Ram Gopal Verma stated that the movie is still on and he will direct it whenever he finds the right resources to make this film possible. The main actors in the movie are Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati and Amitabh will only have a special appearance in the movie. This might disappoint some viewers but Big B is really happy to be in the special appearance role at the moment

Amitabh Bachchan visits Amar Singh at AIIMS

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan Sunday visited long-time friend and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Singh, arrested in the cash-for-votes scam, is on interim bail till Sep 19.
He was put under medical observation Sep 13 after he complained of ill health. Bachchan, who is in Delhi to attend the Bharatiya Gyanpith Award, was accompanied by his Delhi-based daughter, Shweta Nanda. "Amitabh Bachchan came to see Amar Singh in the private ward around 11 a.m.," an AIIMS doctor said. Amar Singh and two former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora, were arrested Sep 6 for their alleged involvement in an attempt to bribe MPs ahead of the July 2008 parliament trust vote. Bachchan's visit follows Singh confidante and MP Jayaprada's jibe saying: "The celebrities he helped, the famous people... Where are they?"
