Rekha inspires Kangana's look in Shootout At Wadala'

Actress Kangana Ranuat, who will be playing a gangster's girlfriend in 'Shootout at Wadala', says she drew inspiration from Bollywood diva Rekha and the late Smita Patil for the 70s look in the film.

 Kangana plays Vidya Joshi, girlfriend of gangster Manya Surve, played by John Abraham. "I play a Maharashtrian girl. As the film is set in 70s and early 80s, my look is also pretty much similar to that period. We have kept the look as authentic as we could," Kangana told reporters here at the unveiling of the first look of 'Shootout At Wadala'.

  "For my look I took inspiration from Smita Patil and Rekhaji. Fashion is a factor in the film but it is not over the top," she said. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Mahesh Manjrekar and Ronit Roy.

Kangana Ranaut will reportedly be replacing Kareena Kapoor in the sequel of 2010 smash hit ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. The 24-year-old will be essaying the role of Dawood Ibrahim’s love interest in the movie, which is to be produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Milan Luthra.

According to the buzz, Ranaut’s character in the film, ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2’ is inspired by the life of yesteryear heroine Mandakini, who got involved with the underworld don after her career in Bollywood came to a standstill.

 Ekta Kapoor was considering her blue-eyed girl Vidya Balan for their next big project 'Shootout at Wadala'. But after much delay and deliberation she is finally replaced by Kangana Ranaut in the film.
The underworld film to be directed by Sanjay Gupta has John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor in lead roles. "For quite some time, Vidya Balan was being considered for the female lead, to be paired opposite John Abraham. John plays the character of the notorious gangster Manya Surve and Vidya was to play his girlfriend", says a source closely associated with Balaji Films. 
However it seems like Ekta Kapoor herself was responsible for making Vidya so big with the success of The Dirty Picture that the actress wasn't sure whether she would want to do this role in the male-centric underworld drama. "So she opted out of the project but on a very amicable note and there is absolutely no bad-blood", adds the source. So the makers replaced Vidya by their other favourite - Kangana Ranaut who worked with Balaji in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai.

As if her Paris Hilton liason rumor was not enough, that even her co stars have started lashing out at Kangana Ranaut. According to recent reports, Kangana’s co-stars in her to be released movie Rascals, Sanjay Dutt & Ajay Devgan are very upset with her and have vowed never to work with the Himachail Beauty. Rumor has it that the actress has been bad-mouthing about the two senior actors, which triggered this move from them.Prior to this Sanjay Ahluwalia, co-producer of Rascals along with Sanjay Dutt, said in an interview that Kangana has developed a starry attitude. The reason for such a statement is believed to be the additional money that Kangana has been demanding from the producers for her dubbing.  If rumors are to be believed, Kangana has been deliberately left out of the film’s title track, despite having enough time to shoot for the same.

Apart all such news making rounds in the Indian media, there some news from her ex-boyfriend. Recently Adhyayan Suman,son of actor Shekhar Suman, said in an interview that the actress has been flooding him with abusive calls ever since the truth about her fake claims came out.Not only this, he alleged that the actress destroyed him completely during their year long relationship.

With all such stories circulating in the media, when the movie Rascals’ release is just around the corner (movie releases on October 7), we can’t help thinking that all this is a marketing strategy. If the marketing strategy of the movie involves degrading actors of the film & giving importance to sequences such as Kangana sporting a bikini for the very first time , we really can’t imagine how bad the story of the movieB will be.
