John Abraham wants to live and die with six pack abs

Actor John Abraham, who is famous for his strict fitness regime, says he wants to live and die with six pack abs.

The 39-year-old made heads turn when he wore yellow swimming trunks in a famous scene in Dostana and John says there is nothing more important to him than his health.

"I am pretty much an agnostic tending to become an atheist so my only religion is my body. I think there is nothing more important than health and workout. I want to live with a six pack and die with a six pack."

"I credit Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan for creating that awareness amongst the youth to go to the gym. To have a good body you need a completely disciplined lifestyle," said John, who was in the Capital to launch Philip's body-groomer.

The actor, who has been in the industry for over a decade now and has given hits like Desi Boyz and Force, recently turned a producer with Ayushmann Khurrana's Vicky Donor, which was a critical and commercial success.

John says he is in a very happy space right now as an actor and producer and he wants to provide platform for new talent in the industry.

"When you are an actor you are just a means to an end and not the end in itself. So I decided to produce films and I wanted to be a hands on producer, most actors produce films which they only act in. I wanted to make sure that I make the films I believe in even if the cast is otherwise," he added.

John has three more films - Jaffna, Hamara Bajaj and Kala Ghoda - in the pipeline. John will star in Jaffna, a political thriller about LTTE's activities in Sri Lanka, directed by Shoojit Sarcar.

"Jaffna was in the making for about two years and because of that Vicky Donor happened. Jaffna is the film which Shoojit and I are doing together. Hamara Bajaj was also a film which Shoojit was planning to make with a new comer. "So we decided to take Ayushmann in that. Third film is Kaala Ghoda, directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. We also have three more films but they are in initial stages," John said.

The actor is currently shooting for his upcoming movie Shootout At Wadala, where he plays gangster Manya Surve. John calls the film a complete game changer for him and he says people will be surprised to see him as a gangster.

"As an actor Shootout At Wadala is a complete game changer. It is going to shock people in a very positive way and it's a film that I have put my heart and soul in. It's going to be a very special film for me," he said.

John is also a part of Race 2, a sequel to 2008 Saif Ali Khan starrer Race, where he plays a 'cool baddie'.

Ekta Kapoor was considering her blue-eyed girl Vidya Balan for their next big project 'Shootout at Wadala'. But after much delay and deliberation she is finally replaced by Kangana Ranaut in the film.
The underworld film to be directed by Sanjay Gupta has John AbrahamAnil Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor in lead roles. "For quite some time, Vidya Balan was being considered for the female lead, to be paired opposite John Abraham. John plays the character of the notorious gangster Manya Surve and Vidya was to play his girlfriend", says a source closely associated with Balaji Films.
However it seems like Ekta Kapoor herself was responsible for making Vidya so big with the success of The Dirty Picture that the actress wasn't sure whether she would want to do this role in the male-centric underworld drama. "So she opted out of the project but on a very amicable note and there is absolutely no bad-blood", adds the source. So the makers replaced Vidya by their other favourite - Kangana Ranaut who worked with Balaji in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai

Dirty Picture beats Desi Boyz

Vidya Balan

Dirty Picture continues a record breaking spree. It has collected approximately 9.54 cr on Friday-December 2,
10.78 cr on Saturday-December 3, 12.38 cr on Sunday-December 4, 5.72 cr on Monday-December 5, 6.21 cr on Tuesday December 6...totalling upto 44.63. This is the Net box office.
According to trade guru Taran Adarsh, TheDirty Picture has made a clean sweep at the box office.''
In sharp contrast the other big recent releaseDesi Boyz collected approximately 40 cr in the first week.
Says another trade analyst, The big difference is Desi Boyz had two big actors Akshay Kumarand John Abraham, one big heroine
Deepika Padukone. Akki reportedly got 20 cr for Desi Boyz and John allegedly took 9 cr. Vidya Balan is rumoured
to have got around 1.25 cr for Dirty Picture. In fact the entire cost of Dirty Picture is said to be 11 cr that is less than Akki's fee. Clearly one can see that Vidya is the real hero and actors need to do some serious rethinking on their price and scripts.''

I am financially secure: John Abraham

John Abraham

Bollywood hunk John Abraham on matters close to his heart - his much talked about breakup, marriage, the importance of BO success and his 'sexy bachelor' tag

After Dostana and New York, you chose to do some meaningful cinema that did not exactly give your career a high. Do you regret doing those films?
We all do films when we get excited about. I connected with No Smoking, Aashayein, Kabul Express, Jhoota Hi Sahi and Saat Khoon Maaf. I do one film a year because I am financially in a secure state and don't need to do dhinchaak films. My friends in the trade have often advised me that I should stick to doing Dostana or Garam Masala kind of films and I will be commercially more successful. However, I realize that after being in the industry for 20 years I realize that I am not cut out for item numbers or dancing. Even if you ask me today, I would like to do a No Smoking Part 2. You might say that I am in a professionally crazy space, but I am happy with that!

I want to get married: John Abraham

John Abraham

A lot of things have changed in the life of John Abraham. He has not only developed his meso-ectomorph body for Nishikant Kamath's next film Force, but also looking forward to a fresh new beginning with films like Shootout At Wadala and Desi Boyz.

While the actor has surely reached an enviable physical state, the same cannot be said about his emotions.

Opening up about his decade-long relationship with Bipasha Basu, the actor told Mumbai Mirror, "Whatever had to happen has happened. I think we needed to move on. And we did just that." Denying all speculations about John cheating on Bipasha being the reason behind the breakup, the actor said, "Speculations and perceptions are usually wrong. This one is no exception. I respected Bipasha when she was in my life. I still respect her when she is not in my life."

John Abraham

Bipasha seems to have no such inclinations to even greet her ex. The actresshad famously said, "I don't believe in wasting a minute over someone who doesn't value me." The actor however, said that he doesn't believe in washing his dirty linen in public. "Bipasha and I respected what we had. We are now in different spaces. Think of it, what's the point in tracing backwards?" quipped John.

Does it hurt to hear about her linkups with Rana Daggubatti, Josh Hartnett and Shahid Kapoor? He said, "If she is happy in whatever she is doing, that's all that matters."

Bipasha may have moved on, but what about John? Denying all rumours about him dating a certain Priya Marwah, the actor said, "There is no Priya Marwah. She doesn't exist. At least in my life."

And what about Deepika Padukone? "I am overtly fond of Deepika. She is a lovely girl. But I was certainly not dating her. I have nothing to lose when these rumours make headlines. I just feel bad for the girls involved," replied the actor.

"I don't want to be known as a guy who is roaming around with five women. I was very fair in my relationship with Bipasha. I guess I need to change a bit now. I'll speak more frequently and clearly hereafter," revealed the actor about his plans for the future.

He also revealed that he wouldn't mind falling in love again. "I really don't know what my life holds for me. I am very happy with my present state of being. But I can fall in love again," said John and surprised us by adding, "I want to get married," and quickly followed it up with, "Yes, I have this tag of the sexiest man but married men are attractive too."
