Choreographer Ganesh Acharya was recently in a dilemma. Ganesh, who got accolades for his Chikni Chameli at the start of the year, was called in by Kareena Kapoor to direct Halkat Jawani, her item song in Heroine.

So far so good. However, we hear from sources that through the making of Halkat..., Ganesh was stressed because he had clear instructions from filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and Bebo to ensure that Halkat... outdid Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli.

When TOI contacted Ganesh, he shared, "It's not just Madhur Bhandarkar and Kareena Kapoor who want the song to outdo Chikni Chameli but also a lot of people from the industry are expecting the same."

He further adds, "After Chikni Chameli, there was definitely a lot of pressure to create the magic in Halkat Jawani, but this song, I guarantee, is going to be a dhamaka."

Shahrukh Khan is aware of his awesome sense of humor and so the actor never leaves a chance to floor his co-stars with his strength, ‘sense of humor’. He has been doing the same with his co star Katrina kaif and it is heard that the actress is enjoying her life, shooting with the Khan.

Actor Katrina Kaif's fans down South may feel disheartened to know that the Chikni Chameli of Bollywood has rubbished reports of her signing a film with south superstars Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth. 


Buzz was that Katrina had signed two films down south and charged a fee of Rs 5 crore each . But Katrina, 27, denies these reports. "No one has contacted me or my manager for any of these films," said Katrina, who is currently shooting in Cuba for Yash Raj Films' Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan.
Buzz was that Katrina had been contacted to play the lead opposite Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, helmed by Rajini's daughter Soundarya. "Katrina was quite upbeat about the project as the script fascinated her a lot," Soundarya had said a while back. 
But latest reports suggest that Deepika Padukone has been finalised for the film. "Guys. Deepika Padukone confirmed to play appa's pair in Kochadaiyaan," Soundarya tweeted recently.Haasan, too, hinted at Kat playing the lead opposite him in Ulaganayagan, touted to be one of the most expensive films of Kollywood. "Katrina's been approached by the producer as the role suits her perfectly," he said.

Isha Khoppikhar recently performed at the Nasik Festival on the Marathi superhit track Kombdi Pallali, the song that inspired Katrina Kaif's item song Chikni Chameli in Ageneepath. 
Says a source, "Isha has been telling people that had she been given Chikni Chameli song, she would have danced better than Katrina. She even confessed that the Kombdi Pallali performance was an ode to Maharshtra from their own Marathi mulgi and she prefers Kombdi Pallali to Chikni Chameli." 
When quizzed about whether she prefers Kombdi Pallali over Chikni Chameli, the actress affirms, "Kombdi Pallali is a classic Marathi number. its got this rustic raw appeal. I feel that the song is best when it's in Marathi. When I heard Chikni Chameli, I felt that it doesn't even come close to Kombdi Pallali in terms of the fun element."

You know that young, giddy-headed lovers have matured, when they start behaving cordially with each other after their high-profile parting. 

When Ranbir and Katrina's split early last year, it was the former's much hyped World Tour that suffered the worst collateral damage. Ranbir called off the tour, saying he had no stage songs. And with the two former lovers refusing to work together, Katrina was struck off from the lineup, even though she had nudged out Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor from the tour. 
Well, a lot of water has flown under the bridge. And as a show of maturity both Katrina and Ranbir have decided to work together professionally again and will topline the World Tour lineup. Katrina 's friend has confirmed the developments, adding that she is indeed working out her dates to accompany her former boyfriend to the UK, US and Canada in August this year. 

As for Ranbir, a member of the tour production team told Mumbai Mirror, "He has no issues about Katrina's inclusion. Katrina has given her consent." 

But will she be comfortable on stage with Ranbir? "Now that remains to be seen," says her friend. "Besides, we do not know how the performances are being planned, whether Ranbir and Katrina will perform together or not." 

Katrina's decision to join Ranbir- in whatever capacity- is bound to raise eyebrows. 

Readers may recall, not too long ago the actress had opted out of Ayan Mukerji's film starring Ranbir.

B-town's newbies. The latest is that she is being pitted against Rockstar girl Nargis Fakhri for Nikhil Advani's next film, which has Arjun Rampal in the lead. In fact, it is being reported that while the makers are keen on Amy, Arjun wants Nargis to be his co-star. "I've been meeting producers and actors, but it is not about this film. Nothing is concrete about that at the moment," says Amy.

Quiz Amy how it feels to be the one of the most sought-after actors in the industry and she says, "It's a bit crazy as I never thought of acting as a career. I can't believe all this is happening to me, but I am definitely here to stay. And I am happy to be in Indian cinema," she says.

Amy, who made her Indian film debut with the Tamil film Madrasapattinam, will start shooting for director Vijay's action thriller, Thaandavam - which is reportedly a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu - in March. "It's a completely different film and I will get to show off my action skills in it. Vijay gave me my first break and it's great to work with him again," says Amy, who wants to make inroads into Tollywood as well. "The industry is big and if I get an interesting role, I will take it up," she says.

Katrina Kaif has bagged the coveted role opposite southern legend Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, being directed by none other than his daughter, Soundarya. 


It's true. We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror. "We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months.When contacted, Soundarya confirmed the developments, saying, Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon. 

Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule. All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete, the member said. 
In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale, disclosed a very reliable source. A R Rahman, who is known to take his time over scores, has recorded most of the music, including the love song to be filmed on Rajinikanth and Katrina. Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score, the source further revealed. 
As for Katrina, it will be tough but she really wanted to work with Rajinikanth for the longest possible time, according to a friend.

Ayan Mukherji Directs His Second Movie

Most of the people from the Bollywood claim that directing a movie is the toughest thing you can do in Bollywood. However, there are some youngsters who have mastered the art of direction and Ayan Mukherji showed us that he is capable of directing a good movie at a very young age. He directed Wake Up Sid with Ranbir Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma and it did really well at the box office. Once again, Ayan is directing a movie for Dharma Productions and the movie is named as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The title of the movie is taken from the famous R D Burman song from the movie Jawani Deewani. 

Dharma Productions is really going to have a busy schedule next year and the production company will have to handle many movies coming up from the very first month. Agneepath is the first on the platter that has Hritik battling against Sanjay Dutt. After Agneepath, Dharma Productions have Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Student of the Year and finally Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani which will be directed by Ayan.

Ayan has already finalized that the lead roles will be played by Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. There was a lot of debate about who should handle the female lead role and many people suggested Anushka Sharma or Katrina Kaif but finally the offer went to Deepika Padukone. Before this, Ranbir and Deepika were onscreen together in Bachna Ae Haseeno where the audiences loved their chemistry. Karan Johar is expecting the same thing again from the audiences and hoping that the great chemistry works once again. This movie is a total romantic movie so Ayan will have to look out for no coming of age situations here. With better skills and talent hope that Ayan will be able to keep up his winning streak.

Salman-Katrina starrer " Ek Tha Tiger" is facing protests from locals in Ireland, where it's being shot. Industry workers demonstrating over poor pay targeted the shooting of the film, reported Irish newspaper Evening Herald. Excerpts from the report:

They're bringing Euro 1.5million into the country, creating more than 1,000 short-term jobs and spending hundreds of thousands of Euro - so why is a major Bollywood production being shot here facing protests that threaten to drive filmmakers away from Ireland for good?

Ireland's potential as a base for multi-million Euro Bollywood movies is being jeopardised by a handful of industry protesters. Two A-list actors have been left frightened by protests at the filming in Dublin city centre, it's been claimed.Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, described as the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie of India, were said to be "frightened and worried".
Industry workers demonstrating over poor pay and conditions picketed a weekend shoot of blockbuster "Ek Tha Tiger". Gardai (Irish police) were called to the scene after the 30 or more protesters allegedly used klaxon horns and other methods to ensure filming was seriously interrupted. "They started to shout and stick their placards across the wall at the crew and cast," said a source.

Irish production company Fantastic Films told the Herald the firm had "worked long and hard" to bring "Ek Tha Tiger" to Ireland. "The film is a high-profile Bollywood production that will reach an audience of over 100 million in India, the Middle East worldwide," a spokeswoman said, "It's breathing life into the Irish film industry, creating jobs and generating revenue. It is disappointing that the actions of a small minority will jeopardise the reputation of Irish filmmaking internationally."

The hunt for a leading lady for " Dhoom: 3" is over! Katrina Kaif will sizzle in the third instalment of the action-adventure series, which features Aamir Khan as the anti-hero. 

Yash Raj Films (YRF) had been on the lookout for a fresh face for the role, which was essayed by Esha Deol and Aishwarya Rai, in "Dhoom" and "Dhoom:2", respectively.

"After almost a year of searching for a new face for 'Dhoom: 3', we were still unable to find the perfect debutante to play the lead role. We even reached out to international talent but were still unable to find someone who stood out," said director Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor.

The choice was made jointly by Victor and producer Aditya Chopra.

"Once we decided to go with a known face and not pursue the newcomer route, Katrina was the obvious choice for all of us," Victor said in a YRF press statement Friday.

Katrina has been riding high on the success of films like " Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" and another YRF venture " Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" earlier this year.

"She is someone who we all know will bring tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to the film. The first time pairing of Aamir with Katrina will also certainly add value," he added.

"Dhoom: 3" is written and directed by Victor, who had also written "Dhoom" and " Dhoom 2".

Apart from Aamir, both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic roles of Jai Dixit and Ali, respectively.

The shooting will begin towards the end of this year. "Dhoom: 3" is slated for a 2012 Christmas release.

Item songs or the so called item numbers are soon becoming an important part of bollywood movies and therefore most directors are now keen on adding some good item songs to their movies that would provide them with additional publicity and also attract more audiences in the movie halls. In the last few years, there is a new trend of item songs like Sheila Ki Jawani and Munni Badnaam. Katrina has been in the forefront of this race after her Sheila Ki Jawani from Tees Maar Khan became a nationwide hit. 

However, soon after that Katrina was seen moving her body in an item song in Bodyguard along with Salman Khan. Katrina and Salman together did the title track for Bodyguard, but now Katrina has taken a lead and she has bagged another item song under her belt. This time it is for Dharma Production’s Agneepath which is expected to be release somewhere in January 2012. The decision was taken by the cast and crew of Agneepath and everybody decided that Katrina will be a good choice for the song which is very groovy and it would require some really flexible body that can adjust to such dancing steps.

This will be for the very first time that Sanjay Dutt will be seen onscreen with Katrina. Sanjay Dutt is playing Kancha Cheena in the movie which is a negative role. However, Sanjay Dutt is really nervous about the song especially because he is a non-dancer actor and doing some hardcore dance steps with Katrina will require a lot of rehearsing. Sanjay has already shaved off his head again for the item number and plus he has also managed to take two weeks off to learn dancing steps that can help him to match up with the groovy moves that Katrina will do onscreen. The music for this item song will be composed by Ajay Atul who recently composed music for Singham. They have revealed that they will come up with a fresh new item song which will be inspired from Jhumma Chumma from Hum which is another chartbuster song from Amitabh’s Hum movie.

It's hard to think of them as a romantic couple -- the awkwardness is almost visible when Katrina asks a somewhat dazed Imran to promise to kiss her everyday. Yet, somehow, the duo manage to pull it off in what turns out to be a light and breezy comedy where the traditional Bollywood love story turns untraditional and offbeat. But only partially....
